EaglePicher has supplied energy storage systems for military airframes throughout our company’s history, across a wide range of chemistries. In fact, we pioneered lithium ion battery system applications on military aircraft by upgrading the battery system on the B-2 Stealth Bomber.
Our products are found in diverse applications, including main-ship batteries for engine/APU starting power, emergency power sources, and mission-critical payload primary power. Specifically, EaglePicher is dedicated to developing, certifying (through DO-311, DO-178 and DO-190) and delivering a full line of lithium ion batteries for main starting and emergency applications. In 2015, we were awarded $22 million in funding under the Defense Production Act Title III Program (“DPA Title III”) for Phase II of the Lithium-Ion Battery for Military Applications (LIMA) project.
Today, we continue to work with all major defense contractors and the military communities to develop advanced technology energy storage systems for conventional and emerging applications.
