EaglePicher deployed lithium-ion battery system applications in UAVs with the RQ-4 Global Hawk and the Aurora Excalibur VTOL airframes. We achieved another first when we supplied lithium-ion batteries for the Northrop Grumman X-47B (UCAS) demonstrator, which became the first unmanned vehicle to operate successfully from the deck of an aircraft carrier.
EaglePicher’s Li/CFX-MnO2 primary non-rechargeable batteries are ideally suited for expendable, one-time use UAV missions where low weight is critical, extended run time is essential, and payloads demand high power. These fully-charged battery solutions offer a long stable shelf-life and avoid the recharge maintenance of present Lithium-ion solutions for these applications. These packs are the first and only of their kind presently in the marketplace.
