Abstract for “Thermal Management of Hybrid-CFx Cells and Batteries for Portable Power”

This paper covers a study to investigate changes in the mechanical and geometric features of a hybrid-CFx battery in order to improve heat transfer and thermal dissipation. The effort consisted of conducting transient thermal finite element analysis of BA-XX90 type batteries and subsequently building and testing modified batteries containing both hybrid or CFx only cells. Through analysis of the numerical and experimental data it is demonstrated that the thermal management of these batteries can be greatly enhanced through mechanical and geometric modifications, allowing for an expanded application range.
