Abstract for “Li-ion Chemistry Development for Aircraft Applications”

The increasing demand of high-rate, high-energy capacity batteries require high energy storage electrode materials with improved safety features for aircraft battery application. EPT evaluated and characterize several lithated metal oxides materials as candidate cathode materials. EPT has developed various Li-ion battery systems for aircraft application. The developed Li-ion cells showed the matching cell performance with the designed cell performance. Cathode chemistry strongly influences on the overall cell characteristics as well as overall energy density. A selection of Li-ion cathode chemistry is one of important parameters to determine overall cell performance.
